'Detox' teas are marketed as cleansing and gut-restoring. Most contain senna or other stimulant laxatives that cause bowel evacuation marketed as 'cleansing'. The 'lighter feeling' is dehydration and lost stool weight, not toxin removal.
What they actually do
Laxative effect causes water loss. Repeated use can cause dependency. Electrolyte disruption. Reduced absorption of nutrients including medications (especially contraceptive pills). No actual detoxification — your liver does that continuously without help.
What works instead for digestive health
Adequate fibre (25-30g daily). Adequate water. Regular meal timing. Reduced ultra-processed food intake. Probiotic-rich fermented foods (kefir, sauerkraut). Sleep and stress management. None of which require expensive tea products.
Skip 'detox' tea. Your body detoxifies continuously. The products sold to 'support' this mostly cause harm without delivering the marketed benefit.
